Sleep
Sleeping properly is an art form. This guide won’t just tell you that “you need to sleep more.” Instead, it will help you understand how to effectively make use of a third of your entire life.

Exercise & Working Out
Maximizing gains
Proper sleep is absolutely essential to maximizing the results you get from exercising. 75% of the Human Growth Hormone(HGH) is released during deep sleep. This is what allows you to reach your maximum potential. In addition, getting enough sleep keeps you fresh enough to workout and complete physical feats. Sleeping less also increases your appetite by increasing your hungry hormone(Ghrelin) & decreasing your full hormone(Leptin). You’re going to be looking for sugary and fatty foods to replenish your low energy levels, which kills your gains(ex: candy, snacks, & fast food). Not only this, but your body is completely at rest during sleep. This means that the microtears in your muscles can mend and give you bigger muscles.

Mood
Just by sleeping you are giving yourself an advantage. Today hardly anyone gets the amount of sleep they need. Teenagers need at least 8-10 hours of sleep, but they don’t. If you’re not sleeping then you’re playing video games, scrolling videos, or chatting. You’re wasting your time with short-term enjoyment. This is weakening your mind. How could it not? In the end, the only one suffering here is you. Your mood will decline. Nothing will make you happy other than instant gratification. Instead, sleep well. Control yourself, and your mood will become strong and stable because of it.

Mental Health
Sleep is fundamental to a healthy mind. A third of the average person’s life should be spent sleeping. If you’re spending that time doing something else, pursuing instant gratification and not getting the rest that you need, you’re destroying your mental health. Your cognitive ability will suffer. Your memory will decline and so will your academic achievements. Staying up, pushing yourself to have short-term enjoyments when you should be sleeping can contribute to depression. This decline contributes to the decline of your personal life and is part of why sleep is so important.

Health Improvement
Getting an adequate amount of sleep is associated with numerous health benefits. First of all, you receive a reduced risk of chronic illnesses, infections, and diseases.
Your athletic performance is also boosted as sleep is necessary for muscle recovery and growth. Sleep may also improve your reaction time, coordination, and endurance..
Sleep is also greatly beneficial for weight control. Losing out on sleep means you lose out on the regulation of food hormones. Because of this, you may not be able to digest food as quickly and may also crave food more often.
In addition, a good amount of sleep contributes to fully-functioning reactions and reduces your risk of accidents and a subsequent unfortunate event that undermines your progress.
